They settled in immigrant absorption camps in Lod and Ashdod and experienced firsthand the building and development of the Land. My parents immigrated to Israel as small children with their families for Zionistic reasons. I really like my work and see it as my mission, because I am also a member of an immigrant family who moved from India in the early 1960s. I conduct group and community activities for all immigrants, but especially those from Ethiopia and the Former Soviet Union. It has helped me significantly with paying for my studies.Īs part of my work as a community social worker, I coordinate absorption and integration for new olim, immigrants to the State of Israel, in the city of Lod. I would like to thank the Dahan foundation from the bottom of my heart for the scholarship I received. I am a social worker and social work graduate student, studying community and organizational development, on a research track at Bar-Ilan University. As a family, we have lived in Lod for most of our lives. I have two younger brothers, both of whom are married and have kids. I am planning to get married soon and one day have children, with G-d’s help. You should know that you are making a difference not only in my life, but I hope also in the lives of many people who will someday be in a better situation because of my research. Knowing that some of my education costs will be covered by your gift is a great feeling and meeting you in person makes it even more special. It is also very encouraging to find that there are people who want to help. Students in the sciences have practically no time to work, so this is a huge help financially. I thank you very much for this scholarship. I really enjoy the research and study a great deal. My work focuses on the proteins that regulate RNA and gene expression. The lab is dedicated to the study of RNA and molecular parasitology. It is amazing to me that I am doing my research in the laboratory of one of the most celebrated Israeli biologists and perhaps the most celebrated Israeli woman in biology, Bar-Ilan’s Vice President of Research and Development, Professor Shulamit Michaeli. My twin sister, Esther, is also in this program. I am in a special program for honors students which allows me to complete a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in just four years. Coming from my large family of seven brothers and sisters, your financial support is so important to my success.Īs you know, I am a graduate student in Biotechnology in the Faculty of Life Sciences. I wanted to put in writing how much I appreciate the scholarship which you are providing for me and my twin sister, Esther, for the 2018-19 academic year. It was so nice to meet you when you visited campus a short time ago!
